Pace of Play

or

"How to Play Ready Golf"

On the Tee

1

Be on time to the first tee.  Watch the group ahead tee off.

2

Shorter hitters should hit first, if not:

3

First player who is ready should hit.

4

Tee-off as soon as the group ahead is clear.

5

Carry an extra golf ball in your pocket.

On the Fairway
1 Take appropriate extra clubs to your ball and HIT WITHOUT DELAY.
2 HIT WHEN READY; do not wait for honors.
3 Watch your ball.  Mark the spot with an object if it leaves the fairway.
4 Watch fellow competitors balls to help locate errant shots.
5 Cart riders should drop off one player and then drive to the other ball.
6 Walkers should proceed directly to the ball to be ready to play.
7 Players on opposite sides of the fairway may hit simultaneously.
8 Limit search for lost balls to 5 minutes.

On the Green
1 Place your extra clubs between the green and the next tee.
2 Repair all ball marks or other damage to the green.
3 Study your putt while others are putting.
4 Continue putting until you hole out, unless you are in someone's line.
5 Have other ball marked and lifted only when they might really interfere.
6 Replace the flagstick in the hole in an upright position.
7 Players should LEAVE the green IMMEDIATELY after holing out and PROCEED DIRECTLY to the next tee.
8 MARK SCORES after you leave the green (while others are teeing off).

At the Turn
1 Do not stop for more than five minutes.

Always
1 KEEP PACE with the group ahead.
2 Practice swings should be kept to a minimum.
3 BE READY to play when it is your turn.
4 MARK SCORES AFTER you leave the green, at the next tee.

REMEMBER, if each player saves only five seconds per shot,

each round of golf would be shortened by 15 minutes.
